Trade work has always been a part of my life. Beyond 15 years as a Finish Carpenter, including five years as a General Contractor and cabinet making, my father was a flooring contractor, and summer work when I was young often involved refinishing or installing new hardwood. When it wasn't that, it was working various construction jobs for my grandfather, a contractor, and a few years of house painting.
The type of work I do.
In the trades, typically, what's called a punch list of work: fix a door, install fixtures, repair drywall, and paint. Finish carpentry, install cabinets, appliances, etc. Fix a leaky faucet or a running toilet, or even install a toilet if needed. It could be anything, especially those items you've meant to fix. Now's the time.
The goal of Home Help is to help you with your home —let's get started.
• General home repairs, both exterior and interior needs.
• General carpentry.
• Drywall repair.
• Exterior and interior painting.
• Cabinet installs.
• Fixture repairs and installs.
Rates.
I work time and materials (T&M) for most jobs lasting a few hours to a day. My rates are $100 for the first hour and $85 for each subsequent hour.
If I need to travel outside the immediate Larimer County vicinity, a $50 travel fee applies.
Larger, or multi-day jobs, will be bid in the typical fashion before work starts.
Any shop work (ie, custom builds, repairs, refinishing, etc.) will be bid.
A 10% fee is added to any materials I must pick up for the task.
Insured?
Yes. I carry full liability insurance to protect all parties.
Licensed?
In Colorado, Fort Collins, or the surrounding communities, Handyman-type work doesn't require a license. In fact, Colorado is one of the few states that doesn't manage General Contracting licensing state-wide, and each County and community will have its own requirements. But because the state manages Electrical and Plumbing work and requires licenses (and often permits), I don't do projects in either line of work other than installing fixtures, outlets, switches, etc. However, I can give recommendations for licensed plumbers and electricians, as well as an opinion on the work to be done.
Experienced?
Yes. For 15 years, I worked as a Finish Carpenter, and for five of those years, I added a General Contractor's license in Washington State, which allowed me to take on more involved projects. I've been employed for many years in various trades related to homeowner needs, including flooring, painting, general, and finish carpentry. I also worked for a group responsible for the property management of a luxury condominium community, which required a wide range of repairs and fixes.
